1/2 | cup | butter or margarine, softened | |

1 | cup | sugar | |

4 | eggs | ||

1 | cup | flour | |

1/2 | teaspoon | salt | |

1 | teaspoon | baking powder | |

|||
1 | can | (16 oz.) Hershey's chocolate syrup | |

1 | teaspoon | vanilla | |
|

Frosting Ingredients: | |||

1/2 | cup | margarine | |
|
|||
1 | can | evaporated milk | |
|
|||
2 | cups | sugar | |
|
|||
1 | pkg. | (6 oz.) semisweet chocolate chips | |
|
|||
1/2 | cup | chopped nuts | |
|
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift flour, salt and baking powder together. Mix in alternately with chocolate syrup, until all ingredients are blended. Pour into greased and floured 9x13 pan and bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes and frost. In saucepan, bring to boil margarine, milk and sugar. Boil gently for 2 minutes. Remove from heat, stir in chocolate chips and beat until smooth. Add nuts and pour over warm cake, spreading quickly.
